Unlike the Starfury that wields multiple gatlings however, the Thunderbolt only carries a single gatling as a weapon of last resort. It also sports 4 rocket pods that provide a solid punch for it against targets of various sizes. Thus it is built with heavy armor which renders it much more durable against gatling fire but at the expense of lower acceleration. On the other hand the Thunderbolt I envisioned as being a heavy fighter and/or a strike craft able to attack a moderately defended base or frigate in a small group. Thus if any assaults on a larger target sporting automatic turrets were to be undertaken with this fighter it would be vital that multiple starfuries attacked simaltaniously rather than sending a lone ship or two.

Because I did not see the starfury as a fighter designed to take on large warships/bases I opted not to put any countermeasures for automated turrets on it that might hamper its performance in its primary role of engaging enemy fighters. Thus the Starfuries are lightly armored, relatively heavily armed and has respectable acceleration and the ability to spin around quickly. I built the Starfury with the idea of an interceptor or air superiority fighter designed for short decisive engagements in support of a base or larger ship which could readily resuply these fighters. These ships should be combat ready and each were built with a specific role in mind: The Thunderbolts in this world do not include the fold-out wings sometimes seen in the series due to the problems with copy/pasting the fighter with wings attatched to rotors subscribers would be faced with (though there are rotors placed on the engine housings to mount wings to if you want to do some minor modding to the basic Thunderbolt design I've created) Recreate some of the most memorable scenes from television series Babylon 5 with a squadron of the iconic Earth Alliance Starfury fighters and a wing of the advanced Thunderbolt 2 seat heavy fighters. Includes Starfury light fighter, Thunderbolt Heavy fighter and assorted maintainance craft inspired by the B-5 television series.
